I compiled BOINC v5.3.7 from the cvs source downloaded today. Here's the results:

For work in progress checkpoints weren't found and processing was started from the beginning.

Note: When testing new versions I set network activity to disabled to prevent reporting in the event of work errors.

There is, I believe, an Einstein@Home issue where one or more of the servers is not properly sending the files. I am sure there is a thread over there in P&Q (it is not in NC, I know that) about this.

One of the work-arounds has been to change the system clock/time zone so that you "move", download the application, then reset the time-zone.

It seems unlikely to be related. Before installing the new version I set BOINC to no new work so it shouldn't be trying to download new work. After seeing the work restart from the beginning for work in progress and unrecoverable errors for work from both einstein and seti I reverted to my backup (v5.2.15 - it's running now). The errors are only present with v5.3.7.

They've made some source revisions and a version change so I'll wait a little bit (until 17:00 utc) and compile v5.3.8 to test the result of the revisions.
