conhost.exe is a BOINC client thing.
Closing the client by "Stop BOINC client" removes them.
The GPU exe are probably running as a console by the client.
And this is 1.12 we are talking about.
If 1.12 crashes, follow this: http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=338.0
This way I can find and remove the problem.

That part of the program has been unchanged for some time.
Maybe a new BOINC version? Anyway this isn't a bug or something.

A quick bug fix.

1.20 September 2011
Changed: Added seconds to the crash dump files .dmp. A cascade error can cause a rapid dmp file creation, preventing the maximum counter of 10 to take effect.
Changed: Added sum to icon message, like 2,4,3,6 =15.
Fixed: (Serious) Removing all computers, may cause a cascade error. Probably introduced in V 1.13.

Message 40422 - Posted: 28 Sep 2011, 20:58:09 UTC - in response to Message 40387.

Hi Fred,

Not tried 1.21 yet, 1.20 working a treat to include in a Wine instance under Linux.

This feature has me quizzical:

New: If a user switch occurs, the BOINC client will be stopped and restarted when the other user logs in.

Were you talking about a core client running at user level, rather than service? Personally, if I'd be doing a user switching, leaving the other session in background, I'd not want the client restarting, but could see a reason when there are really multiple users of a computer, that both crunch under separate BOINC accounts.

A small glossy point [cosmetics]: The icon-bar at top where jobs can be changed from Ready to Start to Suspend or abort, work fetch switched on / off etc. When going to the Project tab, the first 3 buttons gray out, to indicate their inactivity, but converse when going to the tasks tab all show as active, though none but the first 3 do anything such as "project update". You might want to consider to gray those to indicate their deactivation.

Now for a feature request: Would you consider adding an additional icon bar group for the 7-10 states of activity for processing (CPU/GPU) and networking. They'd operate for the device that is selected in the left margin. This way one can quickly switch e.g. network state from Suspend to Always and v.v opposed to having to do 4 steps to hit Extra > Allow Network Comms > Choose Device > Choose Network Option. Am doing that allot for the WIFIed devices as WIFI if dropping causes jobs to crash, particular on Linux.

Thanks

-- SekeRob

P.S. Only recently discovered by accident that double clicking on a tasks alternates the filter state on and off for the particular condition the task has that is being double clicked on. Very handy and speeding up micromanaging.

1) The default installation isn't Service, but this could cause problems if it is. I will make it optional.
The users should be able to use the same account.
2) I will add it to the list.
3) Added to the list. But that means a lot of icons, just to find so many different icons....

Hi Fred, I'm eventually going to install a 1GB GTX460 in the case here after I've built the next PC with a pair of GT295 cards and to work on 6 wu's at once I'll need to do what Vyper did and install a 2nd Boinc install, My question is can Boinc Tasks run and manage two Boinc installs on the same PC?

Oh and BT 1.21 is running hot, straight and normal, as it were.

Set the second BOINC to another port with the client command: --gui_rpc_port N
Specify port for GUI RPCs

31416 is the default, so to avoid problems with TThrottle 31418 is one you could use. Or any other from the thousands to choose.

So far Vypers method is to start the 2nd boinc.exe from a shortcut and there is only a 2nd boinc data folder. He used port 9999, but port 31418 is just as good.

In the properties of the shortcut this would have to be done:
"D:\Program Files\BOINC\boinc.exe" –allow_multiple_clients –dir D:\Boinc-Files2 –gui_rpc_port 31418

I'm only setting up for a GTX460 and two GTX295 cards at the moment, As I need to prove something 1st with 3 aircooled GTX295 cards. Oh and I wish there was a way to start up a second boinc.exe without resorting to a shortcut, within BT would be nice, if It's possible...

Note1: Boinc-Files2 is My 2nd data folder as I don't like the hidden default location, the name of the data folder can be anything You want...
Note2: Oh and I have No C: drive and yes there is a data folder by the name of Boinc-Files...
