Hi,
One of my team mate is having Md5 checksum errors on all the projects he tries to join:

exemple of the boinc logs:

29/12/2005 13:32:59|uFluids|signature verification failed for evolver_4.02_windows_intelx86.exe
29/12/2005 13:32:59|uFluids|Checksum or signature error for evolver_4.02_windows_intelx86.exe
29/12/2005 13:32:59|uFluids|Unrecoverable error for result bubble4a_45_1_88_0.1925_15000_0.0001_0.0_0 (app_version download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>evolver_4.02_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <error_code>-120</error_code> <error_message>signature verification failed</error_message></file_xfer_error>)
29/12/2005 13:32:59|uFluids|Unrecoverable error for result bubble3-3a_45_1_76_0.58_15000_0.0001_0.0_5 (app_version download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>evolver_4.02_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <error_code>-120</error_code> <error_message>signature verification failed</error_message></file_xfer_error>)
29/12/2005 13:33:00|uFluids|Deferring communication with project for 59 seconds

Or with Seti:
29/12/2005 11:07:48|SETI@home|Started download of 03no03aa.13994.19377.29822.1.124
29/12/2005 11:07:48|SETI@home|signature verification failed for setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe
29/12/2005 11:07:48|SETI@home|Checksum or signature error for setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe
29/12/2005 11:07:48|SETI@home|Unrecoverable error for result 03no03aa.13994.19377.29822.1.124_3 (app_version download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <error_code>-120</error_code> <error_message>signature verification failed</error_message></file_xfer_error>)
29/12/2005 11:07:49|SETI@home|Deferring communication with project for 4 minutes and 57 seconds

He has tried to unistall, delete the BOINC folder and install again BOINC, but to no avail.
He has tried several 4.x and 5.x versions but it's always the same song.
He has two machines, one is sharing the internet connexion with the other.
Using Windows (probably XP, but I'm not sure)

Any suggestions is warmly welcome.
Thanks

No, french speaker only...

I think it's probably related to a network problem because previously, all was working OK for this user
I have more details about the configuration of this user:

Computer 1 is directly connected to the internet and using Win 2000 SP4 with CC4.45. there is no problem on this machine.
Computer 2: Connected to computer 1 via ethernet link, Win XP SP2, CC4.45.
Computer 2 is the machine that receives all the error messages. There is no AV and only XP firewall running on this machine.

The difficulty is that there are so many things that can cause these errors. Including feuding ISPs. IF he is having problems with SETI@Home he is best off asking on the SAH forums (in general) because the widest readership is there.

The down side is I have not seen the network smart people around the last few days ... but, you can try some of the techniques in the Netowork trooublshooting guide in the Wiki ...

Hi Paul,

He has the same problem with 3 projects, so it's likely a network problem.
He can access internet with his browser, so it seems port 80 is working OK.
We have given him some suggestions to test his network and your link to the network troubleshooting wiki-page.
We'll see what is coming out of all that.
Thanks for the link.

That shouldn't be a problem. We have some people with knowledge of the French language on the SAH forums, else he can probably ask on BOINC France.

But if you post it on the SAH Number Crunching forum, if you have credits at least, it's possible that Matt Lebofsky sees it and that he can give an insight.
