As a newbie to BOINC i find it frustrating that the so called help menus are of very little use and are complicated (except for the nerds)
In BOINC manager there is a need for a simple step by step guide with explanations to enable newbies accomplish each task within the menue
After completing a task I dont know whether the completed task uploads automatically to BOINC or whether my input is needed

There is nothing that you need to do besides attaching to a project, and that's accomplished by a wizard already, which explains every step.

After completing a task I dont know whether the completed task uploads automatically to BOINC or whether my input is needed

As mentioned above, you don't need to do anything (if an Internet connection is available) for BOINC to work. It will upload and report by itself (in its own time :-).

If you want to learn about BOINC, try looking at the BOINC FAQ Service or the BOINC Wiki.

Unfortunately the software and documentation is written by people with doctorates, and the projects by scientist. Neither group is very good at writing for the masses. They tend to be closed minded when suggestions on how to improve things are made that doesn't fit their preconceived idea. They seem unable to accept that the rest of the world doesn't think like them.

The best help is peer to peer. Luckily there are many users on most project message boards that are fairly adept and patient enough to explain how things work and willing to answer even the most basic questions.

The Unofficial Boinc Wiki (see my signature) is somewhat outdated, but it is still the best general source of information and is written in a more casual style.
