Is it possible to turn an existing boinc installation into a service type one?

Or do i have to uninstall and re-install? And in this case, should i do some kind of backup or not?

thanks!

You'll have to uninstall and reinstall. If you want to, you can make a backup of your BOINC Data directory.

But the backup part is optional? Will boinc remember configurations and workunits?

And what folder/directory should i save? All files inside boinc main directory?

Thanks again!

Backup is optional yes. BOINC will keep all information when upgrading.
It depends on which BOINC version you had before on what to backup:

BOINC 4 and 5: the whole BOINC directory with subdirectories.
BOINC 6: the separate BOINC Data directory with subdirectories.
