My Question: I have 2 computersystems, both running Windows Vista 64 Business AND Ubuntu 9.04

Can I switch OS´es at reboot and then have the computer continue the workunits of projects started on the other OS with their respective BOINC (both are 64 bit) install?
- When I link both Boinc versions to the same workdirectory?
If so I could switch my system from OS-es and still continue on the same WU's

(I was wondering about this as (just for example) the seti workunits are normally stating Operatingsystems in their st_err lines as well as the current build of their BOINC hosts)

Or is this not done and should I forget about this. I do databaseprogramming and work a lot on different OS-es

I hope you could answer this for me. I will not start BOINC on the Ubuntu-boot just yet. Ubuntu will have to refer to the windows disk. This as windows doesn´t recognize the linux (=ext3) formatting while Ubuntu does recognize the NTFS.

Thanks for your time,

No, this isn't possible. BOINC will register which hostID it has sent what work to. Your Windows and Linux host, albeit on the same computer, will have different hostIDs.

The host that downloads the work must also return it.

That's without even talking about the applications not being compatible between the two OSes. But what would happen is that the BOINC on the host that started second will just overwrite all the information in the client_state.xml file of the first host. It won't adapt to it. It can't.
