I crunch at WCG. Started crunching on a new project and came across "waiting for shared memory" instead of ready to start. I was refered to these sites:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1871
and
http://www.spy-hill.net/help/apple/SharedMemory.html

Has anyone with a octo mac pro adjusted there shared memory per previous posts? Not sure how it will affect the rest of the system. Boinc is the only program causing this. Also had periodic crashes of boinc in v6 so down graded to v5.10 and the shared memory came up.

I made your links clickable.

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but what are the corresponding entries from your Messages tab (after starting BOINC):
12/03/2009 02:29:14||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 444.98MB
12/03/2009 02:29:14||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 444.98MB

I have read that. According to the first link I posted, it was supposed to be fixed in 5.10. I was in v6 and still had this problem crashing boinc so I downgraded to 5.10. No crashes but the "waiting for shared memory" came up. IF I decide to change this, will this affect other programs or OS X to the point of crashing? Or, can I just leave it alone. Just leary of changing this. BTW, I don't have the option checked to keep it in memory in my preferences.
