I'm using 5.10 x64.
Is there any way to remove the cpu and gpu temperature widget?
For me it is annoying.

Preference->remove the check: "Show temperature window"
Alternatively you can toggle it on/off with a hot-key.

Message 45532 - Posted: 1 Sep 2012, 19:41:32 UTC

Interesting, I have had a temperature problem, installed TThrottle 5.8 on an i5-520M system and set a rule for cpu of 78 deg C, which is 75% of the limit for the cpu. But the readouts with BOINC 6.1.34 running were in the 90-95 deg C range, which is certainly unacceptable to me.

So, I am wondering, is there something I need to do beyond setting the rule for cpu?

I have shut down BOINC until I find out what is what.

Thanks.

Don't set any rules, if you did remove them.

In the first tab set a Temperature (2th) for the CPU and if you have a GPU the GPU temperature (4th).
Check "Auto active"

That's all there is to it.

Message 45556 - Posted: 4 Sep 2012, 0:52:28 UTC

My i5-520M has been running all day. I had needed to re-boot it after a network problem. But, I had not launched TThrottle. When I launched it from the desktop icon, just to see what was happening, I found temps of about 95 deg C. Whoa, Nelly!

TThrottle immediately brought the temps down into the acceptable range. But I had not realized that I needed to launch it at the re-boot.

Is there a setting for it to launch automatically on start-up?

Thanks.

You need to start TThrottle as administrator once.
Remove the check at "Run TThrottle at login" and next set the same check.
Now with the check set you are set for the next time.
Close TThrottle and start it as the user.

Another option is always create a shortcut and place it in the startup folder.

Message 45873 - Posted: 3 Oct 2012, 13:24:52 UTC

I have an i7-2720QM on a machine with TThrottle installed. The machine blue-screened twice in ten minutes. We checked all of the hardware, found that to be in good condition. We started to removed software desired but not needed on this machine.

Once the machine was stable, we began to add back software, and at this point installed TThrottle. We then re-installed BOINC and the machine blew through the TThrottle setting of 60 deg C, went to 95 deg C, at which point we removed BOINC and shut it down.

Does anyone know of any reason that TThrottle would not work on an i7-2720QM?

Thanks.

I'm working on one glitch. At startup TThrottle may take 30-60 seconds before it starts throttling.
Should be solved in 6.2.
But the temps shouldn't rise that quickly in the first place.
Check the fitting (pasta) of your cooler.
If that doesn't work, lower the main clock in the BIOS.
