These happen when your computer has had contact with the project server to report these tasks, but due to something going wrong somewhere along the line or you losing your internet connection, it lost contact with the server before it could send you a confirmation that these tasks were reported.

Hi,

Well, it's still happening and about to drive me crazy.

What is the proper way to fix this? "Reset Project" command ?

And your right about it thinking my net is down even though it has not been down for more than 15 seconds for last 72 hours.

I see this on my profile page for my PC:

While BOINC running, % of time host has an Internet connection 0.0003 %

Yet it clearly can talk to the server just fine. Very strange!

OK. You know what this started happening after I upgraded from version 6.03 to version 6.4.5. I did not have this issue before upgrading.

Also, seems to be a bug in the counter for number of fails..

I see:

12/30/2008 8:45:57 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 12 completed tasks

However, there are only 11 that are trying to report. So it's off by 1.

And why say "Requesting 0 seconds of work". No need for that when not requesting anything.

Thanks,

Will

Doubtful as you now confuse a Seti application version (6.03) with a BOINC core client version (6.4.5). What was your former BOINC version?

And this must have happened for quite some time now for your internet connection fraction to be 4 digits behind the decimal point. Normally it's in the digits before the decimal point, as in mine: 99.8603 %

After it's reported all of these and you had the error messages, does one task seem to be left over in the list?

And why say "Requesting 0 seconds of work". No need for that when not requesting anything.

That's the standard line of notification. When doing a scheduler request, you either ask for work, report tasks or (preferably) do both at the same time.

I'd check the internet/network connection you have, hardware. Does Windows allow your card to go to sleep when you're not using the computer? How are you connecting to the internet? Do you have an always on connection?

Hopefully I'll come up with some other questions by the time I am awake.

Actually, this morning, I had two completed SETI units on my main PC. One was astropulse, the other was... I heirarchal? Or is that Einstein...

Anyway, two different units. One said the upload had failed, "backing off". The other was waiting to report. I clicked the button to sync SETI. The "waiting to report" work unit uploaded. The one that had previous failures failed again.

Unfortunately, I can't remember which was which, so I know that's of limited use. Still, the fact that they were different work units makes me think one of their servers is down. Most large projects have different types of WU's going to different servers, so it's probably a single feeder that's down.

Hey,

Yeah I meant 6.43. Sorry.

And no I had to reinstall Windows a few days before so this was a new install and was fine for a few days.

That why the internet connection fraction is so off, because not a long time period.

I have wireless, using http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=531 adapter with http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=530 router.

I have cable (broadband, 16mbps/2mbps) so yes an always on connection.

I did have some odd disconnection issues because of wireless card's driver but that is fixed. Not a single disconnect in days. And even when it did disconnect it was for seconds so not like it could not connect at all.

And yes still happening, I'm just wanting to know which steps I should take before I simply delete all results.. Wondering if that is best action to take?

But no more red error messages in log file since 12/30/2008 8:46:22 PM, not it just keeps printing over and over:

1/2/2009 8:00:36 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 12 completed tasks

1/2/2009 8:00:41 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

Every five seconds though so I have disabled it (closed manger and suspend boinc.exe process via process explorer) for now since it is slowing down PC a bit. Causes lag in games if I let it run. Normal tasks such as browsing not effected.

Still crunching away during the night just fine though..

Thanks again,

Will

O.K it's all good now. They all expired tonight so I removed everything, uninstalled application completely and reinstalled.

Seems good now, hopefully wont happen again.
