I'm trying to run BOINC on my iMac G5 running MacOS X 10.5.5. When I choose "Select Computer" from the Advanced menu, I get this error: "Connection Failed "Boinc Manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client. "Would you like to try again." I'm using LOCALHOST and leaving the password blank. Obviously, since I'm able to post to this message I have a network connection. Can someone give me a clue what to try next? Thanks. - nello |

I'm not sure where that file lives on Mac systems but try looking in the BOINC data directory first. /Library/Applications Support/BOINC/ |

On MacOS X 10.5 (Leopard) the path is: /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/gui_rpc_auth.cfg |

It can't connect to the client if the client is not running so verify that the client is running. How can I tell if the client is running, i.e., what is the name of the client process? If it is NOT running, then how do I start it? Thank you. - nello |

I re-booted and the problem went away. Oh well. - nello |
