Hi I have BOINC 6.2.18 on my laptop (Win XP Pro SP3). Last night and this afternoon, the service terminated unexpectedly, and I need to restart BOINC manager to restart the service. Here is the error log Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7034 Date: 26/09/2008 Time: 6:37:52 PM User: N/A Computer: UNI-3A11753EFB6 Description: The BOINC service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. I also found that whenever BOINC service starts, there will be two log in system log. First one: Event Type: Information Event Source: BOINC Event Category: None Event ID: 1 Date: 26/09/2008 Time: 6:38:23 PM User: N/A Computer: UNI-3A11753EFB6 Description: The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( BOINC ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: BOINC service is initializing... , . After one second, second one Event Type: Information Event Source: BOINC Event Category: None Event ID: 1 Date: 26/09/2008 Time: 6:38:24 PM User: N/A Computer: UNI-3A11753EFB6 Description: The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( BOINC ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: BOINC service is initialization completed, now begining process execution... , . Any idea? Cheers |

Event Type: Error You also get this error when you kill the service by killing boinc.exe in Task Manager. Are you sure that didn't happen? You can go to the services applet (start->run->services.msc->OK), find BOINC, right click it, properties, Recovery. On first, second and following errors, set it to restart the service. OK out. The other two messages are informational and benign. |

Event Type: Error No, I never kill boinc.exe in Task Manager, it terminiated itself. |
