I have been running SETI@Home and later BOINC/S@H for over a decade, and I prefer to give S@H the majority of my BOINC time. I have just added Rosetta and World Community Grid. Unfortunately, by default all 3 projects get 33.33% of my BOINC time. How do I set the project resource sharing? I want to dedicate 80% to S@H, and 10% to each of the new two. Thanks, Kyle |

Through the Project's web sites, your account, Project preferences. (For WCG this is "Project Weight" in My Grid->Device Manager->Device Profile->Default->Custom) Change the resource Share option for the other two, knowing isn't in percentages, but you can set SAH to 80 and the others to 10 for it to be percentages... Afterwards update all the individual projects in BOINC Manager so BOINC knows what you want. |

Very counter-intuitive, but that works great. Thanks VERY much! -Kyle |

World Community Grid will not allow the other projects to run. Here is what I've tried: I was able to get the BOINC Manager to show resource share percentages of 80%, 10%, and 10% for SETI@Home, Rosetta, and World Community Grid (WCG) respectively. I changed the resource settings from the advised 80/10/10 to 8/1/1. I also changed the projects to work for 60 minutes target CPU run time to help with the problem I am having. S@H has never run since I added Rosetta and WCG. If I suspend and resume WCG, Rosetta will start processing, will run about an hour, and then allow WCG to "take a turn" running. Since enabled, WCG has run continuously, turned in a block, downloaded another one and started it without giving Rosetta or S@H a "turn". I aborted a WCG block and instead of running Rosetta or S@H, WCG just started running another block and downloaded another one. It simply will not allow the others to run. Is this a bug in BOINC, do I have something set up wrong, or will WCG simply not share CPU time with other projects? P.S. WITHOUT WCG, I set up my home PC to run only Rosetta with SETI@Home, and they "take turns" very well on my same account (and therefore same settings). Thanks, Kyle |

This is just normal behavour. Boinc is giving WCG it's "fair share" of processor time, to match what has been given to the other projects. Eventually they will all have an equal share, and run roughly according to your resource share, but only over an extended period of time, NOT hour by hour. And every time you fiddle with the settings to try and make the other projects run, you're putting back the amount of time it takes until they are all equal. |
