I downloaded and unpacked 6.2.15. Can I just copy the 3 binaries over to the /usr/bin directory where 5.10.45 are? I do not wish to go thru an install as apt-get archives are not up to 6.x yet and setting up a service is complicated. My cpu (opteron 275 step e2) is sse3 capable, but 5.10.45 does not list sse3 as a valid flag. Neither does sysinfo for that matter and I was wondering if 6.x would recognized sse3 on my 8.0.4.1 x64 system. ..thanks.. Joseph "Beemer Biker" Stateson |

Copying the binaries along with the .crt file seems to be working and nothing appears to be broken other than the benchmarks are terrible. Terrible benchmarks are on another thread and are related to the ubuntu archive having a tweaked boinc client for 10.15.45 and no client for 6.2.15 as of yet I did have to do a chown to get permissions correct. Some of the wiki documentation is out of date as the suggestion to use boinc_client --stop did not work as the -stop was not a valid argument. I was only able to stop the tasks from running by using the gui manager's "shut down connected clients" I have an issue with the apt-get archive giving the exact same version number for boinc binaries even though their "versions" are way different in size and date.
