Hi

In the Boinc Wiki, it says that "Exit: exit the BOINC manager and all running BOINC applications. No further work will take place until you run the BOINC manager again. "

But I found that even I choose exit, the boinc.exe is still running, and applications the same.

I'm using BOINC Manager 6.2.18.

Any ideas?

Cheers

If you didn't change any of the options, BOINC was installed as a service, which runs continually. GUIs can be used on a service, but exiting the GUI doesn't interfere with the running of the program. BOINC Manager is such a GUI. (Graphical User Interface)

The advantage of the service install is that it runs when no-one is logged on, as well as - as you noticed - without the need for BOINC Manager to run.

If you want to stop running the service, you can do it in two ways:
- go through the services.msc applet (Start->Run, type service.msc and click OK), double click on BOINC and click Stop.
- Start->Run, type net stop boinc and click OK.

To start the service again, you either go back to the services.msc applet and start it again, or you type net start boinc at the Start->Run option, or you just start BOINC Manager.
