I have a dedicated Vista 32 media center PC that I run BOINC and after I upgraded to 6.2.14 I started experiencing problem where during play back of recorded TV shows, it would lock up. I finally figured out it was BOINC using up the available processing bandwidth and not yielding it when media center was playing back content. It had no problem recording the tv shows, but just wouldn't play it back. it also didn't work when playing DVD movies. Worked ok for playback of divx content that was not recorded off the air. Just passing along info for anyone else that might be experiencing media center problems. |

Did the playback program lock up or the computer? |

Did the playback program lock up or the computer? the media center locked up during playback, the PC was fine, but no keyboard or mouse response so I couldn't get to the task manager to kill the process (just hard reset at that point). I was able to figure out it was the BOINC hogging up procesor because I left it like that overnight, hung up, and next day when i reset the system, BOINC had finished all the WU's. I uninstalled BOINC 6.2.14 and it's been fine. It ran fine with 5.10.45 until the upgrade to 6.2.14. |

Thanks Sekerob, I'll give those tools a try, but I'm going to pass on further attempts with 6.2.14 for now. |
