Hello ~ Since upgrading to Firefox 3.0.1, I've noticed Firefox to be tremendously slow to load pages. After watching this for a while, I've noticed in Task Manager that boinc.exe does not yield processor time to Firefox, when I request a new page. When I exit boinc.exe Firefox is fine. Can you suggest a way to resolve this - without terminating BOINC? |

Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. - BOINCmgr.exe runs just fine and seems brisk. - I thought it might also make sense to upgrade to BOINC 5.10.45 (from 5.4.11). |

Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. >>[quote]Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. Well, when it can, boinc.exe uses ALL available processor capacity. |

Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. Yes, it can, but it doesn't (shouldn't). It only does housekeeping tasks every few seconds. |

Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. My apologies. Looking more closely, I see it is 'rosetta_beta_5.' that is using all available processor capacity and not yielding. |

OK. I'll move this inquiry to Rosetta@home. |

Boinc.exe taking time? It's barely uses any cycles. BOINC sets the priority for its tasks very low (just barely above idle). Some programmers think that they can do a better job of CPU management than the operating system and stop if the system is not completely idle, but they forget that there are such things as long term low priority tasks. If this is true, it is a FireFox bug, not a BOINC bug. BOINC WIKI |
