I have a new system with Q6700 quad core, 4GB RAM, and Windows XP 64-bit Edition. BOINC first detected 4 processors, but then automatically reran the benchmark test and came up with only 2. I forced the benchmark test again, but it still came up with only 2 processors. I see just two projects going at once when I expected 4. Is there some setting I need to adjust?

Thanks
Tom

What do your preferences tell BOINC to use? If they're still at 2, it'll only use 2.

Thanks - I forgot about that setting; changing it to 32 did the trick (planning for the future!).

BTW, the preferences page says this setting is
Enforced by version 5.10 and earlier

Does that mean this setting will eventually go away? I'm using 5.10.45 on the quad core machine.

On BOINC 6 this is changed to the newer option of:
On multiprocessors, use at most 100 % of the processors.

So in a sense, yes, the other option will go away.
