today i had to restart my mac mini, and since then BOINC stubbornly refuses to run. when I try to launch it, the dock icon bounces for far longer than usual, then it stops bouncing, and that's it. the indicator under the icon doesn't appear and neither does the window, boinc doesn't try to use the internet, nothing. activity monitor shows that boinc doesn't consume any CPU time either. all I can do is force-quit.

so far i've tried the following, all without success:
- repaired disk permissions
- verified the boot disk (disk utility says the disk is ok)
- run the maintenance scripts
- reinstalled boinc 5.10.39
- downloaded and installed boinc 5.10.45
- moved boinc to the trash and installed from scratch

during the installs i noticed something weird: at one point the installer launches an app called postinstall, and that has the same problem as boinc: it bounces for a while, then stops bouncing and freezes.

what's going on here? maybe a FUBAR prefs file? where does boinc keep its prefs files? what can i do to solve the problem?

PS. mac mini, dual core, 1.83 GHz, leopard 10.5.2, first boinc 5.10.39, then boinc 5.10.45.

Does Activity Monitor show that both boinc (the client) and BOINCManager are running?

Can you open the manager window by using pop-up menu from the Manager's icon in the Dock? (Click on the Dock and hold for a few seconds to see the menu.)
