Hello,

I'm running BOINC for a long time. In the preferences I use the setting "Computing allowed only after computer has been idle for xx minutes". It always worked fine.

Today I tried to use a wireless keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 5000) on my computer. Now, BOINC never starts to work, it's always inactive as it thinks the user is active, but I'm not.

I tried this on 2 computers (both with Vista Home Premium). One has installed BOINC version 5.10.45 and the other 5.10.30.

I searched the internet and this forum and found nothing.

Does anyone has any idea to fix this?

Frank

I have read something related to mouse activity and BOINC activity in Vista.
It seems to be necessary to have running a program called BOINC System Tray for this stuff working well. Take a look to the following board at SETI:

Perhaps helps you.

Regards. Saludos.

5.10.45 includes that program already. I'm not sure about 5.10.30.

Thanks for your response.

Boinctray is installed to my computer but it was not running. So I started it manually, but nothing changes. The problem with that wireless stuff still exists. Using a wired keyboard and mouse causes no problems.

Now it works. The problem was, that I have not installed the IntelliPoint and IntelliType software for the hardware. I thought I would not need them as the keyboard and mouse worked fine and I don't need the additional features of that software. But it seems that this software does anything important or magic :-)
