Does anyone know of a way to set the preference of disk usage?

A project (Predictor) says that there's not enough disk space available (the Predictor msg boards discuss how to get around a potential bug by changing allocated amounts of disk space -- but that is a different twist to my question here).

This is probably true since the BOINC manager client is installed on C:/ which only has about 9GB free, but my D:/ drive has over 100GB free.

I can't find any place in the Manager nor on the preference webpage where I can tell BOINC to use my D:/ drive.

Any ideas?

(Just a note: I am a newbie but fiddled around quite a bit with this last night. That being said.... )

I know that on Seti preferences you can set the max and min disk usage - you may want to check your preferences (Your Account tab under Predictor) and see if you can set the max and min disk usage.

Only thing I can suggest is to try to move the whole program onto your D:/ drive, or uninstall and reinstall onto the D:/ drive if you can't move it without encountering any errors. So far I haven't seen any *easy* way to have the program installed on one drive but have it use space on another drive. Those who are familiar with code may be able to come up with something, but that's my hubby's territory, not mine. :)

Hope this helps!

You can not use another drive, unless you install Boinc in that drive.

Set the preferences to an amount that compares with what you have on your drive,, ie if you have 3 gig set it to 3 gig....or 2 gig...

This is what I use, but I have used 2 gig, 4 gig and 12gig....I have 41gigs free on this drive....

Disk and memory usage
Use no more than 30 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 85% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 360 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

This seems to be the critical (and confusing) one. It says "total" disk space, but it actually compares against _available_ disk space. Give it 50% or more and all is fine, tell it 10%, you get errors.
