On my WinXP machine I run rosetta - I set the button to say No New Tasks as I wanted to run the tasks down to start another program in addition ro Rosetta. It keeps downloading tasks. I never used the No New Tasks buttons before as I always started with several and it never was needed.

On my Ubuntu (latest version) - I run Rosetta, LHC and Einstein. In preferences I tell it to switch every 60 minutes, but it will not switch. I used to run multiples on my old version of Ubuntu with the same settings and it worked.

Am I missing something with these two errors or do others have the same problem?

The button shows the option you have, not the state it is in. If it shows 'No new tasks" then that is the option you have, while BOINC is allowed to keep downloading work.

When you press it, it'll change to "Allow new tasks" as the option you have, while BOINC is now not allowed to download work.

With the setting to switch between applications about every 60 minutes, the CPU will switch to another application when the old one checkpoints on or about around to 60 minutes you've given. It can be more, it can be less.

Or in the case of some applications that still do not checkpoint, or that use a wrapper, they'll checkpoint at the end of the task and then release the CPU. Best ask about that on the project's forums though.

A less confusing way to tell which 'state' the connection is in, is to look at the status at the right hand end of a project name;
If there's nothing there, then the connection is 'open for business'.
If there is a message which says: [b]Won't get new tasks[b], then you won't get any new WUs for that project.

I will try that with the button - wuda figured that I had it set the other way else I would not have gotten all the work in the first place - thanks.

the linux machine doesn't seem to care about switching from the Rosetta and it always has the earlies deadline. since I have to suspend processing on the Rosetta I am unsure if the Einstein would switch or not. I will check the Rosetta forums. thanks
