I have boinc running on Ubuntu Dapper 64 (not gutsy as i mistakenly posted) but it is not computing and the tasks show up as errrors in the stats.

here is the output of top -p

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
8988 boinc 26 10 25876 3532 2680 S 0.0 0.4 0:00.53 boinc_client

thanks

The "process exited with code 2" error is an application error. Best report this on the CPDN forums.

Not one that I've come across before. Les suggests that it might be a permissions problem?

The problem turned out to be that 32-bit package support was not installed on his Ubuntu 64-bit system, and hence Boinc(? *) couldn't start the climate model which is 32-bit code.

* (I'm not sure whether it was Boinc itself, or the outermost layer of the compound application).
