Trying to install Boinc on a new load. Installs fine, client launches fine .. MANAGER does not launch, so no way to pick up projects. Works fine on Fedora 7. Any help appreciated. Thanks |

If BOINC 5.10.28, then it's because the developers have build the latest version of BOINC with the GUI only for Ubuntu style Linux distros. All other distros best use the command line client (and an older version of BOINC Manager). Rom Walton wrote:

that is really sad! Guess the 2 million or so users of Fedora are left out! |

one comment .. the command line method is written in geek speak. Maybe writing it like some of the forums would be more appropriate with the ability to cut and paste a whole line rather than trying to interpret intent? |

that is really sad! Guess the 2 million or so users of Fedora are left out! Tell Fedora people to make an official package. BOINC devs won't waste their time making packages for every single Linux distro in existence! |

that is really sad! Guess the 2 million or so users of Fedora are left out! Maybe if the developers would just include a list of what dependencies are needed if would help. I am fighting the same problem with ARCH Linux. On the up-side, Boinc installs and runs fine, I just use the Boinc Manager from a remote machine to look at things. |

So, when can we expect a command line only version for linux x64? |

The command-line version is included as part of the GUI manager. Download 5.10.28, and only run it via the command line rather than running the manager. |
