Hi! I got this message: "Can you suggest that on the boinc download page that the admins put a link to this forum thread (so it describes the updates)? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1668" Henri. |

If the link was put here http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php the forum changelog thread could be the third boinc page a potential new cruncher sees. This could be a discouraging experience. There's already a link on the Download page to Release Notes, which leads here http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ReleaseNotes At the top of that page there's already a link to 'What's new in 5.10', which leads to the Version History page: http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/VersionHistory#Version5.10 If a link to the forum changelog thread is to be added, I suggest it should be put on the Version History page. New crunchers not interested in all these details would then be very unlikely to go to it, and would not be discouraged. |

Besides, it's usually only Kathryn or me adding the information there. We add the information after one of the developers has posted that to one of the email lists. As you can see, at the moment of me posting this there's a new Mac version out (5.10.29), for which there are no notes in the changelog thread simply because we haven't got them. Although I did request the developer to add them to the thread, or give them to me so I can add them. (edit: I have looked them up in Trac and added them now) |
