I see that the Californian branch of the Royal International Boinc Linguistic Academy (RIBLA) considers the ck spelling combination to be the prime marker of unacceptable and offensive vocabulary:

Does an identical fatwa apply to posts on this forum?

Are Germans allowed to refer to their breakfast as Frühstü** or is only one letter of the word allowed (F********)?

How am I to instruct MikeMarsUK to rename this CPDN README? Should it now be B***up or B***** and Restore? Or should we say to members '$&/!£^ your boinc folder'?

I'm astonished at what they apparently DO allow. I recently shook my finger at a poster in the BoincStats shoutbox for one of these. But that was before I'd read the new rules.

JM7 will be flattered.

Curious to see if buck, luck, lick (and numerous others)are disallowed as they end in "ck".

Normally these would not be a problem. I am certain that you can think of a sentence including one of the words you listed that wouold be banned because of the context.

There are phrases and contexts which might need to be examined also. For example, 'go forth and multiply' said outside a nightclub at kicking-out-time might be considered offensive, whereas the same phrase uttered by the vicar in a sermon may not... :-)

(Perhaps this biblical phrase has been misunderstood for thousands of years. Noah may simply have wanted all these demanding, inbred and over-domesticated animals to leave the scene as quickly as possible and quit bugging him for kilotonnes of food every day...)
