I believe the new logo to be a poor choice.

There are two groups of people, those who are familiar with BOINC and those who are not. Those familiar with BOINC will look at the logo and see the word "BOINC", and then grumble about or applaud the change.

The other group will look at it and see B Inc., (I've been crunching BOINC since pretty much the start and I did a double take when I first saw it). With some marketing goon's solar power, or turbine, or machinery, orange producer etc. type "message". My worry is the "Inc" because those three letters are widely recognised around the world as synonymous with US big business. I believe there are people who will look at it and believe, regardless of the accompanying blurb, that they will be donating resources to some US corporation.

I have to admit that I totally missed seeing it that way when it first came out. On pages that just have the logo that could indeed be a problem. On the main BOINC page the acronym is also spelled out, so it's not a problem.

I've experimented with putting text above/below the logo on Pirates@Home to make sure it's clear that it's not B. Inc. I don't know if it's any good, but I thought I've try it.

That was the first thing that I thought of.

Bionics Inc
"We can rebuild you better than human.
Enhanced strength;
Enhanced sensors;
Inbuilt weapons options;"

etc

Good eye. I didn't notice this until you mentioned it; "B.INC " is quite visible. Not to mention that BOINC has traditionally been slaughtered by typing it as "BIONIC" or other mis-spellings. I previously expressed my opinion that this logo -- although professional looking -- does not inspire "distributed computing". However, the world will not be impaired by this logo or any other.

Is that the same corporation that gave Steve Austin (Lee Majors) a retrofit? :D
