I need to power off my PC for several days and want to stop downloading new tasks. I know I can set "no new tasks" on each project. Is there a global equivalent?

NO. Hopefully in the future Boinc will allow selecting more than one line at a time for things like this.

It can be done through Account Managers such as BAM and GridRepublic...

Or set Network activity to suspended.

It can? I think you can only detach. "No new work" is not an AMS option.

Not a good idea if he wants to drain his cache and report the work.

I already did here:

No announcements on changes about this since then.

I'll ask again.

Setting no new work on all projects on a single computer? I can do a little program for that quite quickly.

BoincView has the ability to do this on both local and remote machines.
