I’m planning on stopping by my local public library to show them BOINC. Has anyone tried that?

Libraries with computer banks for the public should have a lot of idle cycles for BOINC.

Wish you luck with that.
* In the U S. most public library computer systems are managed by the township/cities I.T. department and they generally don't want anything other than the pre-approved list of applications to run on their computer systems, ESPECIALLY something like BOINC that connects to the Internet.

Something else is a lot of U.S. libraries computer systems are set up with a program called DEEP-FREEZE that automatically reset the computer to a previous known "good state" and wipes harddisk at reboot or preset intervals.

Similar in UK. Don't know if Deep Freeze is used much here or not though.

It would probably be a better idea to print/make some flyers which you could ask if the library allows to have lying on their desk.
Such a flyer could explain in simple terms what Boinc is and how it works, so people would get interested in running it at home.
I also doubt that libraries would allow foreign programs to run on their computers.
