I am considering deleting BOINC and re-installing as a service so it will start to run without the need to be logged in, e.g.. if the machine recovers from a power interruption while I am not here. I am assuming that the manager will operate in the same way as communication with the core should be exactly the same. In case... (!)... there are things I am missing, are there things I am missing? I run mine as a service for exactly that reason, if I’m away from home for a couple of months and home has a power cut then I don’t want to loose a lot of crunching time. But that’s Linux which installs as a service by default and I presume you’re Windows so … |

Yes, stupid, should have said, it is running Windows 8.1. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Yes, the manager will connect and display the same information as before. But you won't be able to detect or use any GPU in the system. |

Okay, I'll set this up once the already downloaded work units are complete, there are only a few asteroids and a yoyo to go, so some time this afternoon. Cheers guys. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

You don't have to "delete" anything. Just uninstall the current programs from the control panel, then re-run the installer and make the 'service' change in the advanced settings page. It'll use all your existing projects and settings without change. |

Problem with that is that a Service Install is greyed out and says it needs a reboot, which I can't do right now as I have another job running which has 2 days, (probably), left to go. It is now on my ever increasing in size "pending" list. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
