Been a while since I saw any work from them anyway. (I do only run ARP tasks from them. If I recall, scientist on the ARP subproject had requested a temporary pause on new work so they can get caught up on assessment of what's been run so far. |

No, it's still a storage issue for the ARP team.Been a while since I saw any work from them anyway. (I do only run ARP tasks from them. The new Communications Intern TigerLily writes on the WCG forum: "The ARP team is still experiencing storage issues and the situation remains the same as described in recent news updates. Unfortunately, I do not have any updates in terms of when this will be resolved." |

World Community Grid: Upcoming System Outage July 25th On July 25th, all systems will be down, including our website/forums and BOINC. |
Send message Joined: 25 May 09 Posts: 1301 |
The whole message shows that this outage is NOT down to WCG but to the data centre it uses: On July 25th, we will experience a system outage due to maintenance of the datacenter where the WCG servers reside. As a result of this outage, all systems will be down, including our website/forums and BOINC. Site director estimates they will need 2 days. |

Well, that didn't last long. I managed to crunch 130 OPNG's though. |

Website and server appear to have gone down earlier than expected. |

Website and server appear to have gone down earlier than expected. Clearly they are ahead of the game! |

On their FB-account they wrote 2 hours ago: "The datacenter where WCG servers reside is currently down. We are investigating this issue and will share any updates we receive on the status of this outage. Thank you for your patience and understanding." That is strange though, since the UHN website, as well as Krembil, and the Jurisica Lab, is reachable on their websites, and they use the same datacenter afaik. Also their IT provider that runs the datacenter (sharcnet.ca), is still up and running, Maybe it's only part of the datacenter that is down, or more likely the WCG hardware has gone down hard (again), crashed and burned some other part of their system. I'm not surprised though, and I doubt that WCG under Krembil/Jurisica will survive for much longer than this year. They do not have the resources to handle such a big project as WCG, and by the looks of things they are not able to get more resources either. Anyhow, the outage should begin on July 25th, and not July 21st. |

And 20+ hours after their FB post about the outage, WCG is still down. The team is totally silent, incommunicado, and haven't updated their FB with any new information. Website is kind of up, but you can not log in, and most pages are unavailable. The BOINC part is also only kind of up, but replies with: 22/07/2023 14:25:15 | World Community Grid | update requested by user 22/07/2023 14:25:17 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 22/07/2023 14:25:17 | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 22/07/2023 14:25:19 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 22/07/2023 14:25:19 | World Community Grid | Server error: feeder not running |

Not surprised that WCG is still broken... Probably won't be fixed until sometime on Monday at the earliest based on previous issues with project. As has been said in this and other threads about WCG/KREMBIL, they just don't seem to care about the project. It's just another thing for them to play with that has little to no funding for it's size. SAD. |

I don't think they're going to fix it, until after the planned datacenter outage, which should begin on July 25, and last about 2 days. So, maybe WCG will be back(ish) a week or two after July 27. I doubt that this WCG outage that we're experiencing now, has anything at all to do with the datacenter, but is rather something screwed up with WCG itself. |

These are the two systems that I believe WCG relies on (Graham, and Graham Cloud), worth keeping an eye on, now and in the future. They are run by scharcnet.ca, and Digital Research Alliance of Canada. Both are now marked as going offline 3:00 PM/15:00 CEST July 25. (Planned Outage - Arrêt planifié) Graham did have problems already on several occasion in July, as can be seen on the status page. See: Graham Graham Cloud |

Bit of a shock. Just got a bunch of Open Pandemic tasks. |

They all fail because they are misconfigured. |

Bit of a shock. Just got a bunch of Open Pandemic tasks. Every OPNG task runs for just seconds, and becomes invalid. They're all broken tasks. The problem is all over the WCG forum, and no reacton from the team (as usual). They just keep on sending out broken OPNG tasks. Edit: misconfigured, or they need the "Graham" system, which is still closed down for the planned outage. |

No great surprise there! That can be solved with a batch file (or similar on Linux) running the command "boinccmd.exe --network_available", every for example 15 seconds. |
