When I turned on my computer I saw that the work done for the Africa Rainfall Project 7.32, the day before, was lost. I request to save the work done, before finalising the task. |

When I turned on my computer I saw that the work done for the Africa Rainfall Project 7.32, the day before, was lost. Probably those tasks don't checkpoint very often. If you switch the computer off before the task checkpoints it will start again at the beginning. You can find out by turning on checkpoint debug in event log options. |

ARP only checkpoints every 12.5%, 8 times per tasks.Since an ARP tasks depending on CPU can take more than 24 hours to crunch, it can be many hours in between checkpoints. If you shut down the computer in between checkpoints, when you start again, ARP will begin from the last checkpoint, which can be hours before you shut down. When running ARP, do not shut down your computer. Hibernate or sleep will remember the state the ARP task was at when you resume your computer again. As you found out, shutting down, and restarting will not. And they can't make ARP checkpoint more often, it's not possible for reasons the WCG admins have explained many times on the WCG forum. |
