I have been running boinc for over 20 years and using the existing PC for about 5 of those years. I just found out that it hasn't been running for a few months. The boinc manager (version 7.16.11 x64) says "Communication deferred". I checked the stdoutdae.txt file and find: 24-Jun-2022 16:29:59 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 24-Jun-2022 16:29:59 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU and Intel GPU 24-Jun-2022 16:30:01 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable I tried uninstalling and reinstalling boinc. I made sure boinc and boincmgr are allowed on my firewall. I also searched for the issue online, but don't see anything applicable. Does anyone have any ideas what I can try? World Community Grid (WCG) temporarily shut down end of February 2020 - almost 4 months ago to move all hardware, etc from IBM in the USA to Krembil Research in Canada. They just restored operating the website and forums. The BOINC platform and tasks will resume "very shortly" per the forum news. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/article.s?articleId=771 |

Also download & install the latest STABLE VERSION of BOINC 7.16.20 The previous version stopped working some time ago because of an expired SSL file. That also prevented it from communicating with several BOINC projects, with the BOINC server. You can download the version you need here: Download BOINC 7.16.20 + VirtualBox 6.1.12 (129.01 MB) *-- or --* Download BOINC 7.16.20 NO Virtual Box (8.97 MB) |
