BOINC Unresponsive after x amount of time

I usually keep BOINC running overnight or while I work and at times when I get back to my computer, BOINC does not seem to be "responsive". It is still completing the WU set however I cannot click on anything as I have to constantly end task on task manager and open up again so I can use it. Not sure if this is a common problem and/or if it is something on my end or a small bug. Keen to hear any resolutions. The unresponsive / crash is most likely due to Rosetta attempting to load/run too many of their VirtualBox based tasks at the same time. The only way to hard limit concurrent running Rosetta tasks is with a app_config file. If you would like to do this, I recall someone posted it over in the Rosetta forum, which I can't find it right now. I've done a slight bit of digging and noticed if I go onto rosetta@home, I am able to change the resource share on that page. Ill have it changed from 100 to maybe 40 and see if that does anything. i'll also go onto the rosetta@home forum pages and see if I can get the volunteers as suggested to assist on this! That will not solve your problem. All it will do is run less of the time on Rosetta work in comparison to your other projects with 100 share. The issue is that the Rosetta work commandeers all threads of a cpu and starves other work or even a spare thread to take care of normal desktop background processes. Hence, your freezes and unresponsiveness. The solution is to use an app_config.xml with a reduced MT thread count along with a max_concurrent statement. ID: 107583 ·
