I'm receiving a steady flow of work units, but my results either aren't being sent back to the server, or their web site isn't updating with my completed work units.

Your tasks are being sent back, etc; but many parts of the WCG website are not functional during the BETA TESTING transition.
You should be able to view your task list here After signing in to the website.

WCG comms broken from Fri, 09 Sep 2022 12:00:00 GMT - SSL certificate expiry on their side.

They're still using the old IBM certificate, and it's blown.

Anyone got an alternative comms link we can use to notify them?

(They're using HSTS - HTTP Strict Transport Security - to enforce HTTPS-only connections)

I will try their Faceache page.

Edit: someone has already posted there.

Geeze, Krembil/Jurisica Lab is certainly not up to the task of running WCG. Keeping an eye on when the certificate expires, isn't exactly rocket science.

The World Community Grid website is temporarily down due to an expired security certificate. We will notify you when the issue has been resolved.

Let's see if them getting new certificate requite us to remove and re-add WCG since it's NOT IBM anymore "hosting".

My phone has a completed MCM workunit that took 14 hours. I'd like it to upload, also.

I don't feel the need to be grumpy about the glitch. Krembil will realize that workunits have stopped coming in, and they'll fix it.

Well, today's Friday. Maybe it'll take a few days.

If it's a certificate problem, I've seen my browser complain about certificates from much bigger websites. Apparently, it happens.

My uploads and downloads to WCG have restarted though still the only project where my boredband connection isn't the limiting factor. Download speeds currently less than 100KB/s as reported by BOINC so less than my normal upload speed. Website also back up. Actually uploads are going at my normal slow speed of 100KB/s total but the total download speed is less than half that.

My workunit uploaded last night. Maybe I'll do another one.

I had a few in transit - both uploading and downloading - when the certificate failed. They've all now cleared (with a bit of gentle encouragement), so I've started requesting new work again. Got some new allocations, and with the same gentle prodding, they've all downloaded. We seem to have reached status quo ante...

A lot of gentle encouragement. Went out for a few hours this afternoon and a new lot of transfers, both uploads and downloads were ready for some gentle encouragement.

When there are lots of transfers, I can just let them cycle through attempts but once it gets below about 8 of each, I seem to need to keep nudging them.

IMHO, I think Krembil has overstated quite a few accomplishments in this email just received from WCG...
Dear Dr Who Fan,

We cannot thank you enough for your dedication to science and your support of the Grid during the transition from IBM.

Finally, with a functioning infrastructure and critical issues resolved we are ready to reboot the World Community Grid!

Your ongoing support and feedback during the transition from IBM has been invaluable to the scientists who rely on us. Together we improved the Grid’s functionality and efficiency by targeting our limited technical resources, and while we certainly encountered more obstacles and challenges than we anticipated we are here now because of your patience and persistence.

There is work that remains to be done. In particular, while we were able to restore the My Contribution page functionality and you may have noticed that results over the past 2 days are now reflected - we must now carefully iterate through a modified version of the stats update procedure to add back each day that was missed. The results tab of the My Contribution page does reflect accurately the validation status and assigned credit of your workunits.

When complete stats are available we will begin a grace period for streaks of one month, extend all streaks that were active before the transition, and finally restore the normal cacluation of streaks when the grace period ends.

Finally, we are preparing a well deserved Badge of Honor for all the volunteers who submitted a valid result during the transition and testing phase, yourself included. We are also preparing yet another badge for all citizen scientists who join or return to the grid before the New Year.

Our research partners - the ARP, HSTB, MCM, OPN1 and SCC research teams - would like to extend their sincere thanks for seeing them through this crisis. As scientists ourselves at the Jurisica Lab and also one of the scientific teams of the WCG, we are proud to count you among our colleagues in science and look forward to working with you as we expand WCG operations. While returning and maintaining the full capacity of the Grid is our mandate, we will now be preparing to onboard new projects.

The World Community Grid remains steadfast and unchanged in our vision of a healthier world. Our mission is to accelerate science by creating a supercomputer empowered by a global community of volunteers. WCG supports open-source and open-data research while providing scientists with a computing platform that allows them to answer the world’s most pressing questions.

Thank you for your contribution to WCG and enabling seemingly impossible scientific research to come to life,

WCG Team at Krembil Research Institute, UHN

Ditto. They still can't fix their task download issue.

I've just tried to log on to their forums, and got:

Error 500: javax.servlet.ServletException: net.myvietnam.mvncore.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL in MVNForumPermissionWebHelper.getPermissionsForGroupGuest.
Edit - still can't get in, but they're still creating and issuing new work far faster than their download servers can handle it.

Oh, and I got a copy of that email too. Are we all going to get one?

I got it, and thought it was very nice. But then I tried to set up a profile for ARP, and got the error message.
It is sort of like annexing a region and then having to withdraw from it.

Far from a successful reboot!
... last 24 hours on Desktop and Android download errors, retries, timeouts... rinse repeatedly while mashing the retry button for 5 to10 minutes.

How hard after 12 months of trying failure is it to add or configure more physical or virtual servers and bandwidth to service your "customers"?

Edit ... to add > Just tried logging on WCG website with same Java errors noted by others. It didn't find my account, tried again same result, clear browser cache, exit browser and tried again with successfully signed on.

Yup, WCG website is truly borked. I got the same email too, which was laughable, and sent out way too early, considering that WCG is far from back to normal.
Hours later, that fact was really proven when the whole website broke. As I feared from the very beginning of this migration, it would not go well at all.

And of course, there's still tons of download errors "transient HTTP error", and sometimes even upload errors.

Edit: I do not get Java errors when trying to log in (Edge Chromium), but the login window says "An error occurred while attempting to login. Please try again later", when I enter my login data, and press the "Login" button.

I do get the same Java error though, when trying to reach the forum.

If Krembil/Jurisica Lab believes that they can run a large project like WCG, without having people on call 24/7, then they're not living on the same planet as the rest of us.
They haven't even bothered to update their Facebook, or Twitter account about the ongoing website issue. The more crap I see from WCG under the new management, the more
i doubt that they will be able to keep WCG alive in the long run.

The email we got, was just laughable, and should not have been sent out at all, until everything was working normally.

Now can't even log into the WCG website. It's become a joke now.

Trying to access the forums gets this:

Error 500: javax.servlet.ServletException: net.myvietnam.mvncore.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL in MVNForumPermissionWebHelper.getPermissionsForGroupGuest.

I think they have been hacked.
