I have a laptop with 4 cores and 8 logical processors with Windows 10 and the latest BOINC When I run other BOINC projects, I can see 8 tasks running and the CPU maxing at 100% When I have Rosetta tasks, I see only 2 tasks running in a Virtual Box each and nothing else. The CPU is approx. 25% There are plenty of other Rosetta and other tasks available Why are the other tasks not started? |

... Why are the other tasks not started? ALL Rosetta tasks are huge memory hogs, requirements being around 3 GB RAM PER ACTIVE (RUNNING) TASK. How much RAM does your PC have? |

I have 8GB memory But only 6.7GB used (86%) and the Virtual Box processes for Rosetta are each 3.5MB |

I have 8GB memory 6.7 + 3.5 > 8 |

The Rosetta processes are 3.5MB (0.0035GB) Besides, those 2x 3.5MB are already included in the total |

I have 8GB memoryThat 6.7GB used could already account for the Rosetta tasks not doing anything as they try to reserve memory that isn't there, hence why they run at 3.5MB, idle. But since they reserve that memory - in BOINC - no other task can run either. You can check that with <task_debug>, <cpu_sched_debug> or <mem_usage_debug> (or another debug option, but it's been quite a while since I ran BOINC and forget what does what) |

The Rosetta processes are 3.5MB (0.0035GB) But they require over 3GB to start. |

8GB memory is probably good for a laptop, but not for a lot of BOINC projects. Which really need a desktop with 32 or 64 gigs. You may need to find a more suitable project. |

I would recommend to set max affinity to 1. Meaning, runnijg a max of one Rosetta task per unit. |

I would recommend to set max affinity to 1. Trouble with that is it affects 4.20 tasks as well as Python. I know they’re in short supply at the moment but I, for one, have not given up hope that they will return. |
