backing up files

(on Linux Mint) After running my first WU for just over 2 weeks and getting around a third of the way through the task, it has aborted with computation errors and the next task has now started. On the web-page for the project (climate-prediction) there was one line about making regular file back-ups but no advice on how and what to back-up. And I can't see any advice on this site either. That was from a decade ago, when the number of models being run on a computer was just 1 or 2. And it really only applies to Windows OS, in case of an unexpected auto upgrade. With Linux, if a model crashes, then that's usually it. You need to look at the Event log messages for that model to see what happened. And these days, a computer only gets one chance to run a model. If it fails, then it's sent to a different computer. ID: 104374 ·

Ok, so once the failure message gets sent, there's nothing I can do to back track on that WU, correct? So how often do tasks crash? btw. can't look back at log now because I restarted my machine, hoping the task would restart from the last checkpoint. It just says 'Error while computing'. As error messages go its not the most illuminating but I guess they thought any more detail than that was unnecessary.
