Version: 7.16.11 (x64) on Windows 10. (Running in Advanced mode.)

Hi there, I've found what I think is a bug (that I didn't spot by skimming summaries in your Trac database).

Any of these actions cause the application to instantly close:

  • Right-click anywhere inside the title bar (even on the maximise button)
  • Left-click the Boinc icon
  • Press Alt + Space (a Windows shortcut to show the Window Menu)
  • With the file menu showing (Alt+F), press the left arrow key

So this seems to occur whenever the standard Window Menu wants to appear.

Consequences: it hinders accessibility, unexpectedly halts running tasks.

Kind regards,
Luke

Yup, that's a thing. It's been reported and fixed (#4186, #4198).

Unfortunately, that was only a couple of months ago, and there hasn't been a public release since then containing the fix. It's on its way, but as yet without a timetable or ETA.

As the git-hub links don't mention it I presume this isn't a problem on Linux? At least I was unable to reproduce the problem on my 7.17.0 which I built myself rather more than two months ago.

The specific fix was intended to handle the alt-space key combination. I don't know if that's defined for Linux - I'll try it later.

Edit - my current Linux Manager (built 4 February 2021) reacts to alt-space the same way as native Linux tools: it displays a menu analogous to the Windows menu, and doesn't crash.

Yes I found that it reacted the same way, didn't manage to crash it with any of the scenarios listed in the OP so I suspect that it never was a Linux problem.
