Hi,

I tried to install 7.16.7 on a DELL Latitude E6540 Notebook with Win 10 64 pro, the installation fails:

- during the installation error message SetNamedSecurityInfo Error and installation stops

- no permission to the Working Directory, i can not change or delete it

- working directory deleted with linux, new directory cretaed (copy of a working machine) - started Manager, ERROR 0, Could not set current working directory

- tried with a new user, the same problem during installation

- tried to install on a linux system on this machine, the same problem as in
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=14030#101407

I can not get BOINC working on this machine. Any Clues?

Greeting from Lake Constance

I tried to install 7.16.7
Why that version?
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php sports 7.16.11, so use that one first.

The Setnamedsecurityinfo Access Is Denied error may be caused by Windows system files damage.

Best first open a command line window run as Administrator. (Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search. Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-select Command Prompt, and then select Run as administrator.)
Then type
sfc /scannow
and press Enter

Let it run to the end.
After this do:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
and press Enter. (Not sure if it's requiring the capitals, but just to be sure type as it shows)

Afterwards reboot and try the installation again.

Did you delete the BOINC directories again? If you did, you may need to use regedit to get rid of all entries containing boinc or BOINC. I can't remember of Windows is case sensitive for this but being a Linux person, have in the past fallen foul of using the wrong case in commands.
