I have moved to Australia and built a new compute, running Linux. I have installed BOINC --7.14.2--but cannot seem to access my old account or see how to add a new project. I was running seti@home). The manager screen has a "select computer" but no way to access an account. I may just be slow ( I am 86), and forgotten what I did in the US. But any help would be gratefully received.

OK, let's find out what you've done.....
First, I hope you are enjoying your time in Australia.

Right, you've installed BOINC on a Linux computer, and appear to be using a graphical "version" rather than a text-only version.
Next, you are trying to connect to your SETI account - that may be a bit difficult as SETI hasn't been active for some months and won't be for some time to come (maybe years). Were there any other projects you had joined on that old computer?

Let's assume not.
When you start BOINC on your new computer you will (should) be presented with an option to connect the new computer to a project and a list of projects available - choose one that you like the look of and select that one. When the next screen pops up you will be asked if you are a new or returning user - that means are you "new" to that project, or do you already have an account with them - since you are joining the project for the first time select "new user" and you will be prompted for a few things including your email address - use your OLD email address and password - this will help BOINC to link the new account to your old SETI account. Once you are connected to your new project give it a couple of days for the information about your new computer to spread around the system, then you can (should) be able to change your email address to your new one.

As an alternative try connecting your new computer to your old SETI account - use the "Returning user" option, use your old email address and password. This should (provided SETI is accepting new computers just now) get you into your existing SETI account and allow you to change your password there.

Thinking about it - try logging into your existing SETI account on their website using your old email address and password - then change those details there - that might be easier.....
Sometime located elsewhere in the (un)known Universe
But most often found somewhere near the middle of the UK

Thank you very much.
I was having problems finding my set password--I had not transferred it to my new machine: BUT I had backed it up!
