Is there a solution for running Boinc from an executable program (rather than from install).
My company avails computers to be used however we like, but any program installs are blocked, to keep as much of the OS and apps under IT control.

I see no reason why Boinc needs to be installed as a program, rather than being a self sustainable exe file within a directory (possibly containing some .ini or .xml config files)?

I looked in the available files, but the .exe install files don't have anything I can work with.

You can use the administrative options on the installer "boinc_installer_name.exe /a" to unpack the contents of the installer without installing them. Or do that on a different system and then copy the folders and their contents to the other machine. You don't need the boinc_* user accounts and groups unless you install as a service.

It still throws an admin notice.
I can unzip the content with a zip program, but this is the content that shows up:

There used to be a time when one could just set the compatibility mode to XP or Win 98, without getting any admin popup screen. Now it's no longer possible.

This is the folder tree:

In other words, I can't extract any .exe file from the self extracting archive.
