Hi all,
I've been using BOINC for many years and have just rebuilt my PC and started to allow BOINC to run a lot more on the much-improved hardware.
I am receiving notices for Projects and Friend requests that require me to log in to the project site and when I go there, I am directed to log in via the BOINC manager. I can't find where I do that in BOINC manager. I have tried to log into the sites using authenticators from the XML files, my BOINC user/pass but I'm not validated at any of the sites.

I expect this is a basic thing for you all but I can't see how it's done!

Thanks

I do not know of a facility to log into a project’s website using Boinc manager. If you select the project in the projects screen then it brings up links to various pages on the site but does not log you in.

To get into the forums etc. you need to register, preferably using the same user, email and password as you use for Boinc.

OP shouldn't need to register separately, as since they're running the project already, they already have an account that they can log in to. Well, unless they use Science United, then it's an anonymous account and all bets are off.

Can you point to one of these websites? Are you using Science United?

I thought that, for some of the projects, you need to register separately to get into the forums if you want to question them directly?

That's only when they have different forums, non-BOINC. A handful have BBCode forums. But the ones that use the built in forums use the BOINC account.

Which is how, and why, you can see your credit scores, your preferences, and your computer details directly from a BOINC native message board.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

Hi, thanks for replies so far.

This is the kind of notification I keep getting in BOINC Manager:

PrimeGrid: Private message
You have received a private message .
21/10/2020 10:27:01 · more...

I can't connect my BOINC to PrimeGrid website or forum and my BOINC credentials aren't valid there. I get referred back to BOINC to connect using the Manager.
I am indeed using Science United but that's anonymous as has been mentioned.

Yes, that's the way David Anderson has designed Science United. We don't know of any way to access those private messages. You have to ask him / SU.

You have to ask him / SU.
But not via the SU forums as only spammers live there.
