I just installed boinc and when I tried to connect to my first project, typing or clicking anywhere in the window froze the window, and my mouse disappeared when I hovered over the application even though it was priority. I'm running the most recent version of BOINC, and I even tried the 2018 release but still had the same problem Windows 10 OS Any project I try it'll do this and 'freeze' Specs can handle running the manager(?) I'm not sure what I should do or try from here Any help would be greatly appreciated |

With information like this it's difficult to get anywhere. Could you please state: 1. which project(s) you tried that you have the problem with? 2. what system you have? You don't just have Windows 10, it runs on something. 3. the exact version of BOINC. You can see in this thread how to get that information and what other possible info you can give. Not 40-100 lines of messages because they won't show anything (unless a helper here tells you to enable a debug flag). |

1. I've tried on around 5 projects, and it all does the exact same thing. Specifically, I'm trying to connect to either milkyway@home or minecraft@home 2. Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core 64 bit operation Motherboard: BaseBoard Product TUF GAMING X570-PLUS GPU: GTX 1080 3. boinc is 7.16.7 64 |

Okay thanks. I'm still confused by your first sentence though. I just installed boinc and when I tried to connect to my first project, typing or clicking anywhere in the window froze the window, and my mouse disappeared when I hovered over the application even though it was priority. Can you explain this better, or make a video? What do you mean with freeze? Is there nothing visible in the BOINC Manager window? Because then you'll have to check if the client is running. BOINC consists of two main parts, BOINC Manager (the GUI) and BOINC (the client). You control and command the client with the GUI, but when the client isn't running (which happens), BOINC manager will stay empty. One fix is to make sure the client will run, in BOINC Manager go Options->Other options->make sure "Run the client?" is checked. |

Okay, what if you make your account via https://minecraftathome.com/minecrafthome/signup.php and then use the "Existing user" option in the add project wizard? And same for Milkyway: https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/signup.php And by the way, I don't know what you're doing in the video. You have a cursor blinking at the Make new account option but you just move your mouse around. What happens there then? And what are you waving your mouse around on the Windows Task Manager? |

My cursor disappears if I hover over the boinc manager or the client, and I'm unable to type anything into either of them unless I force end the program in task manager So, I am unable to even get to the "Existing User" option on the wizard, which is why I'm struggling |

It's possible you have a corrupt installation. At this point I would uninstall BOINC and reinstall it, possibly to another drive, but at least another directory. You can also try a reboot. Those fix the weirdest of glitches. |
