Message 99372 - Posted: 21 Jun 2020, 13:47:43 UTC

Recently returned to running projects and tasks with a new PC. In order get new WUs after all tasks have completed I have to Exit World Community Grid and restart it. I am running Windows 10 now, with the last edition of the OS and all software, as best as I can tell. I am not sure where to start troubleshooting.

There are problems with the certificates and the OpenSSL version used in various BOINC versions.
So get the updated BOINC 7.16.7 which has the updated ca-bundle.crt file so you don't have to fiddle with trying to overwrite this file in a protected Windows directory yourself.

By the way, why do you run a 32bit BOINC on a 64bit Windows?
Is BOINC then installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\BOINC\, or is it installed in C:\Program Files\BOINC\ ?
Or do you run the WCG version of BOINC?

would have the effect you describe in the thread title.

That could have been set either in the optional cc_config.xml file,

<fetch_minimal_work>0|1</fetch_minimal_work>
Fetch one job per device (see --fetch_minimal_work).
(from Client Configuration - Options)

or on the command line when the BOINC client first starts up:

--fetch_minimal_work fetch only 1 job per device

Thanks. No good reason for 32-bit in Windows 10. Just thought that is what I had to do. Will uninstall and reinstall latest BOINC when I am done processing current loads. Will reply with results after that. Also I guess I am running the WCG version because that is the header on the app window.

Thanks. Changed <fetch_minimal_work> from 1 to 0 in config file and on next restart I started getting newer tasks every time old ones finished and 'reported'. Now I don't have to exit and restart to get new tasks.

The </fetch_minimal_work> setting documentation only makes more sense once you see how it affects processing. Not sure how it got set that to '1' to begin with.
