I want to be notified if another volunteer moderator moves, hides, locks etc one of my posts. Is it impossible to stop the notification email when I lock a post myself or hide a bunch of twenty of them that are all advertising spam?

Or is there a good reason that a notification should be sent to the moderator carrying out the action?

You can set "How should we notify you of new private messages, friend requests, posts in subscribed threads, and other events? On my Account page (no email) " in your community preferences. Then you only get the notification in PM. You get it for double checking, and in case someone nefarious does manage to take over your account.
The emails are sent to all moderators for social checking that you didn't go insane and started banning people left and right with no reason or are hiding posts while in a fight with someone.

As a moderator on several boards, not just BOINC-based ones, I find the email/PM very handy as it confirms that the action has taken place without having to go into the particular thread and see that there is a mod-notice against the message concerned. It is really frustrating on one board that doesn't send out such notices to the moderator, but delays all actions for an hour....

Thanks.

Both answers make sense. As a follow up, is there a way for me to hide spam messages from myself once I have hidden them from everyone else?

Hide no. Moderators see hidden posts.
You can ask an administrator to delete them though. Then they will be gone, out of the database.

I do that here on these forums.

Thought that was the answer, but decided it worth checking. Thanks.
