Just as I thought I hadn't needed my moderator account in a long while, along came a passwordrobot. 🤭

Grumble & a surprising glory.
Our "wonderful" PM stuck to his guns in defending the WFP cessastion but informed pensioners they will be better off due to the pension increase from April 2025.
Increase commences from 7/4/25 so new budget needed.
Due to being caught between the old & new pension the increase will be $420 P/A (£35 P/M) for me.
All bills up from 1/4/25.
Rent/Water/Council Tax/Mobile/Cable/TVLA
Total increase in expenses £35.98.
Master Starmer has given his students serfs a msterclass in accountancy.
Just brings back to mind the old Labour anthem:
The working class can kiss my .... we'll keep the red flag flying there.

Now for the glory.
The last time I bought glasses, they cost me just 0ver £400 (paid for mine & the missus)
Did the same again.
Total cost £81.90 That incuded £5 OCT scans for both.
Actually asked if that was correct. Yep. Who am I to argue :-)

Were it not for having changed t a fixed EV tariff for 12 months, I might be in a similar position. As it is, All the electricity I am using now is either from our roof or till half way through last month at 8p/KWH charging our house batteries. Now they are charging during the day from roof.

Estimated pay back time for batteries and additional solar panels is about 7 years based on current electricity prices. (This includes the fact that car is charged on the above basis so no petrol costs. Original panels on E facing roof paid for themselves in 3 years ago from feed in tariff. 11 years till the 25 years of that finish and I need to think more about how to use surplus electricity.

Grumble
Even though I am to get an increased 'work's pension' it will be more than offset by the increase in tax, because the 'state pension' takes almost all of the 'personal allowance' and so the net effect will be a decrease in 'work's pension' of £28/month.

Could you please stop it with the continuous rocks, leave it to one post per day, or else start posting about them in your own thread either in this forum, or in the Projects forum? With thanks for the cooperation and the sanity of your fellow forumites.

Tear as in ripping open, or tear as in drowning in your eyes?

The Daredevil (Born Again) title music is still the best of all the Marvel shows.
