Thanks Jord. Wasn't sure if the system enables resetting of the time flag for forum sections or not. |

You could be right. Either that or No 5 or one we both didn't think of, No 9 Greed. Spent a fair amount of time yesterday analysing all the monthly logs. All showed a slow increase in the daily usage cost. Lat years annual daily average was £2.13 which provided 114 days for £250 (maximum meter can take). This year (Sept 22 - Aug23) that increased to £2.31 providing 108 days. Based on the last 3 readings for this month, that looks like an increase to £3.69 providing 82 days (July's cap). That is one hell of an increase & loss of usage. With a new rate due tomorrow, won't know until 3rd what that will be. |

You could be right. Reminds me of a story of a long term successful bank ripoff. Systems guy wrote the interest calculation to take all the rounded fractional cents and deposit them into the last account alphabetically. Got away with it for years. Total deposits times interest rate equals total interest paid to all accounts. Then some bloke with more Z's in his name opened an account. Asked what the deposits were. Exposed. (If he kept his mouth shut, free money for years) Would not surprise me if the same kind of fraud crap is going on when they derive the rates. All the fractions get added up and bingo another full cent higher for everyone. Rounding is such fun. Standards have been published on it. Not all floating point processors get it right. |

Rounding is such fun. Standards have been published on it. Not all floating point processors get it right. This is what I have been told is the reason different computers will not necessarily return the same result with CPDN. The Snopes article on the fraud method gives a bit more detail though no proof it has ever been done. |

01/01/23 £4,279.00 £0.00 01/04/23 £3,280.00 £999.00 01/07/23 £2,074.00 £1,206.00 01/10/23 £1,923.00 £151.00 01/01/24 £1,966.00 £+73.00 (forecast) 1st figure - Cap. 2nd figure difference between the previous one. The estimated cost for us (1 bed flat/house) is £1,346. Based on the last 9 days of Sept, I estimate our total cost to be around £370 per quarter. I think these caps just give the fat cats room to play around in maximising their profits. |

Talk of the devil. Lewis said he asked Bankman-Fried how he was unaware “that $8 billion that’s not yours is in your private fund,” and received the reply that “when it went in there, it was a rounding error… it felt like we had infinity dollars in there… I wasn’t even thinking about it.”Report I suppose we have to be grateful for small mercies. Hourly usage for July's rate = £0.1538 Hourly usage for Oct's rate = £0.1519 5 years ago, £500 provided 12.5 months of juice. now it only provides 4.5 months. That's progress I suppose. |

Grumble. Wonder how A.I. would deal with this issue? Mobile dying so looked to see if due an upgrade. Oops, yes I am. Contract ended 23 months & been on a rolling contract. Upgraded. Whoopie, also upgraded contract. New phone & contract £1 a month cheaper. Here's the issue. Express delivery at £5.99 & delivered on Sat 14th. Standard delivery £0.00 (free) & deliver on Tues 10th. Guess which one selected. Seems the bean counters didn't get a say in the website setup. :-) |

Or the bean counters have realised that it cost money to store goods in warehouses while they await their deliver date and have thus increase d the price of the slow delivery warehousing. |

Not sure whether to post as a grumble or glory. Think Murphy has stuck his head in somehow. On 7th ordered 7 items from Amazon. Can't fault Amazon here to be honest. 1x9th, 2x11th, 1x11-12th, 1x12th, 1x12-13th & 1x13-16th. Also have new phone on 10th. Busy week. :-) Get a text at 09:29 delivery will be between 12:52 & 15:52. Okay, no problem. 10:42 delivery arrive. WTH? Expecting a small package, instead get a long rectangular box? Know what that is but wasn't expecting it until 13-16th. While online checking with Amazon, get another delivery 2x11th. Later that afternoon, yet another delivery 1x9th. The thing is, things may have changed somewhat since I last did multi-drop deliveries but surly, not that much. According to tracking info, those items were sent out for delivery at 11:11. 2 different drivers & vehicles, yet same Co. Now today, get a text, phone on the way. Arrives this afternoon. Thanks EU - NOT. No charger & can't use Other Apple ones. Looking at cable - ouch. Check one of the items received yesterday, no go even though it stated compatible with iPhone 11. It is not. So hit Amazon site again, & clicked returm for that item. Gave reason & a 1st for me anyway, refund processed & don't have to return item? |

Murphy definitely stuck his head my way. Looking at Amazon, their price for a charger was £8.30 & probably with a "nice" delivery charge as it's only 1 small item. Apple OTH sell it for £9.00 & without delivery charge & will arrive 12th. While writing the previous post, get another delivery. Another Amazon 1, 1x13th. Have they lost the plot? None of the deliveries were Prime. :-) Decided to order a USB-C to 3.5 jack adapter from Apple. Mr Murphy don't like me this week. Not a valid card number - WTF? Just ordered one of their chargers earlier. :-( |

Wonder if they're using a TARDIS for delivery of your packages? Something similar to this: https://www.facebook.com/100046183314440/posts/pfbid02Cu7caDJoFgcWADaLK1DXvBuJuCk6S9nL5BwnRFxJkaaqhn1pRVQSgULQZoMMVJrTl/mg] |

With the way this year has gone so far, surprised I've got any left. :-) After the last couple of years, now got a really good impression why many customers always had a pop at delivery drivers (even though not our fault 99.5%). Especially as experienced this a few times over those couple of years. The item received Mon morning is showing up as running late. One of the items received on Wed showing up as out for delivery & delivered by 9pm today. The remaining item still to come shows up as dispatched by seller, picked up by carrier Mon, yet the carrier's tracking says still with sender. Got the Apple charger & it caught me on the hop slightly. Thought WTH is this? Where are the 3 prongs? A nice squat little square lump. Flick the Earth prong out & the + and - prongs spring up - neat. |

Especially as experienced this a few times over those couple of years. The only tracking statement I take as accurate is that, "Your item is in transit." Whether that transit is parked or is being driven in my direction is another matter! |

Ah, the seller says in transit, the transport says label created. In transit inside the warehouse? |

I've had several times that I order something on Friday afternoon, site says "ordered before midnight, next day delivered". I get an email that it's being packaged. I next get an email that it's waiting for pickup. And then on Tuesday (!!) I get an email that it's picked up and coming my way, delivery estimate somewhere the next day, between 08:00 and 18:00. They usually arrive around 14:30, but it's been times that at 22:00 it's still not arrived, the "estimated time of delivery" is crossed out, and a next email comes in with an estimated delivery time of the whole next day. Please stay at home, will ya? |
