Ah, the rent from bees is great both unfermented and fermented.
What plants are they collecting from?
(I'm partial to honey from what might be described as "English meadow" & "English hedgerow" as opposed to many of the mono-culture honey)

The first rent of the year, sadly tends to be from the yellow peril. (Oil seed rape) in my area. Later in the year when there is nothing on the fields for them apart from weeds it is much nicer and some years I get a crop from the linden blossom which produces an outstanding honey both for consumption as such and for fermenting.

Some rave about the yellow peril, I rant about it - eyes bulging, nose streaming, and it even gets mildly through to the honey :-(
But linden blossom honey sounds interesting, I'll have to keep my eyes open for that

It produces a very bland over sweet honey that sets in the comb if you don't extract it quickly after the bees have brought it in. I must admit I sell as much of it as I can, keeping what they bring in later in the year for ourselves.

I had that without trying some years ago. Miner bees, in my parrot aviary. Needless to say they didn't stay long, the hoover got a good meal.

They wouldn't have harmed the parrots. In fact many miner bee species don't have stings.

I've seen my neighbour's dog eat a wasp, I didn't want to take the risk. And I thought every bee and wasp had a sting?

Whatever bee species it is the males don't have stings. (Also true of wasps.) this link suggests none of the mining bees sting though I thought it was only most of them.

And I doubt I could have determined the species.

Without a suitable key and a decent microscope, you are right. Getting down to the exact species can take a couple of hours even for one with more experience than I in this. The only one of the solitary bees I am confident in getting right without access to a microscope is colletes hederae, the ivy bee where the adults emerge from the ground in early September just as the ivy flowers.

I retired just one month before this pandemic took off for real in 2020. My idea was to travel a lot and see other countries.
That came to a total nothing :-(
I might as well have continued working for another year, or two.

Even after updating parents' old satnav when testing it on a route I don't need it for on the way home, while driving along the upgraded A14 at 65MPH it thought I was ploughing through fields at that speed.

Have heard similar stories about older satnavs on the internet. Apparently the maps are hard coded into firmware/ROM's and won't update at all.

If they have an Android smartphone, the program I used on my travels through England is https://www.sygic.com/ (or use this link to the Android Play Store). You download the maps for it onto the device. These maps are regularly updated.

The Tomtom seems really good where the roads haven't changed since the last updated. Not so keen on its political bias however. Most of my way down the A1 from Edinburgh it kept telling me, "keep right."
