FacePlant spamming adverts.....
Is it my imagination, or are adverts getting more invasive? One of my BOINC projects puts up a full page advertising splat every time I visit their massage boards, another site puts up video covering part of the content. Both are recent developments, unrelated to the shit-shower that infected all tabloid newspaper sites decades ago.

It's OK with me, since the Interweb is destroying itself, and will soon only consist of pages full of ads, conspiracy theories, and in general people who in past-times would have spent their life in mental health institutions.

Social media is making people dumber and dumber, sitting in their own little bubble, not able to see anything else than what confirms their own twisted view on reality.

You are clearly going to the wrong URL if visiting their massage boards.

LOL. I nearly fell into that one, until I saw what I'd done. But it does massage my ego to be #33 in the world there, until the other SETI orphans catch up.

You mean you haven't installed an ad block browser extension?

Glory: The instructions I found for turning my Canon 7D into a webcam on my Ubuntu desktop work. Still a faff compared with Windows or Mac but they will work with other makes of DSLR too whereas the system for doing it with Windows/Mac require downloading the right version of the software for the particular camera.

Given the inordinate profits that YouTube are making just now this must be seen as a totally cynical act of money grabbing.

Glory and hallelujah.
Just delivered Isa to the hospital. The baby is on its way. We'll have a new world citizen today, people. Let's celebrate!

The past days I was up at 6am already anyway. I've known I was the designated driver since the day she told me she was pregnant. So no shock there. So this morning when she called at 02:48 I was out of bed and into my car and at her house within 12 minutes. No problems. :)

Congratulations, and then of course some questions, that I politely will refrain from asking :-)

Initially there will only be enough to jab a few hundred thousand people. But it's a start.
I dare say it will be early next year before we enough for a larger proportion of the population

This is the one that needs to be stored at -70C so it could be a game changer for hospitals but certainly I don't think I will be getting it till after one of the others is rolled out.

The first challenge will be getting it across the channel from Belgium, during Brexit - while keeping the temperature low enough during delays.
