I will see if I can track down some more specific data on when it happens. Without a bit more than the current example opening a ticket will be particularly helpful. Not surprised BOINC tasks does the same as the manager just reports what the client tells it.

Glory: Crucial scanning tool works in WINE. Last time I tried it it didn't though admittedly that was over a decade ago.

It seems yesterday was a day for glory.
1st glory.
Ordered 4 items Sat morn, houselold & personal.
Ordered another 2 items, I.T components Sat afternoon.
All stated Tues delivery & was surprised around 3pm.Amazon delivered all 6.

2nd glory & a strange one at that.
Pulled some drives from the 4 bay enclosures & put them into the 2 bay.
Drives recognised straight away, copied them over to the new 6tb drive.
Once done, reformatted them & did 2 more.
Followed by another 2.
Last copying over now. So far 4 drives (11tb) done.
Just another 8 drives (30tb left).
Their all dumb enclosures so can't understand why the 4 bay ones not seen.
Thankfully, I always name my drives so hoping I can access Data & Personal drives.

Glory Gary 1, IRS 0!

You don't ever want to have to call the Internal Revenue Service. Worse when they have made an error. Every option in the voice system is "make a payment" for this or that notice. When you finally get through all that crap and the computer finally decides it will allow you a human, "The expected wait time on hold is 95 minutes!" Thank the heavens, "Press one for a call back."

Then they call you back - amazingly on time, "Your expected hold time is 2 minutes" zzzz ring "Agent 201334D556293. What payment do you want to make" No! Explain issue. "Let me transfer you to the XYZ department" Music. Oh god how long now?!

About a minute later bleep blap ring. Agent 100129X5398. Me: Your OCR software missed the check mark in the box for exception A. What do you need to look my return up? All manner of numbers later including the number qualifying me for exception A (part of my PII), "it will be just a minute while I look up your account." Silence. "I'm sorry it is taking so long, just another minute." Silence.

Then the Glory. "I've fixed your return and you will be getting a refund."

I have in the past had good results from the infernal revenue but their recent moves to try and make everyone do everything online make me suspect it would not be as easy here in UK now.

I see from the tracking link, my memory upgrade is, "In transit." Is that the only sort of van they have?

Now in computer which has had a good dedust of the insides. The 32GB that was in place is much fatter than the upgrade so won't sit alongside the slightly faster 64GB.

Since a while now, after installing the new AMD Adrenalin driver suite, it's not asking me to reboot my computer anymore. Which sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.
But then when I do reboot my computer, I always get back into Windows (10) and it immediately pops up a message saying my hardware has changed and that I need to reboot to have those changes take effect.
Off a fresh reboot!

It's getting irritating.

Jord: Does Win 10 have write permission? No seriously, has the driver done something so that it prevents W10 from saving the configuration in a survives reboot/power cycle way? Or a vice versa that the driver can't save its last step so it has to do that every reboot an thus W10 sees a change? CMOS battery on the MB? And as always, if you can't find any other report of the issue, may be unique to you, lots of reports its a bug.

Apparently it's something in the AMD drivers itself, and can be disabled by doing:
Go Start->Run, type msconfig, Enter. Services tab, find and uncheck AMD External Events Utility. Apply. Reboot.

Seems the replacement is a mixture of stainless steel, titanium and ceramic. My guess is I will set off some alarms. Now I just need to keep up the exercises from the physioterrorist.

Grumble: Something broke after upgrade to noble. booting hangs after several messages ending with a
no irq handler for vecor
message. If on boot I go to advanced Ubuntu options and boot into recovery mode at the point where I resume normal boot again it works. I have reverted to the xorg drivers from the proprietary Nvidea ones which has resolved the problem for now. Might have to try downloading updated driver at some point. Fortunately I don't do video card crunching so not a biggie.

Thanks Jord. I had looked at that. I knew the error messages were not that important. It is the fact that booting into the OS just stopped after the messages that was an issue. The messages are still there after going to the xorg driver but it boots into the login screen and works normally. Like I say, sometime over the weekend, I will try downloading updated drivers and see what happens. Also will see if there is a bios update since my last one for the MB. And as I say more a niggle for me rather than a major issue. Will be a bit different if the same is happening for someone with a much more powerful Nvidia card or so and it won't finish booting with the drivers needed for crunching.

Got a smishing text from a criminal trying to trick me into clicking a link. The criminal attributed the message to another criminal, "Donald Trump."

Grumble. My Ryzen7 PC keeps crashing. anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours after a reboot. Now awaiting delivery of a shiny new Ryzen9. Unfortunately, it needs to be built first.
