Ah, exactly the symptoms of a troll - looks down on everyone else and assumes to be better in every respect.

Oh please, stop feeding the anarchistic, contrarian troll.
The troll is only here to annoy, no other reasons.
Hijacking threads all over the place.

What proof are you offering the OED changes every 5 minutes?
Psst, 5 minutes doesn't always mean between 4 and 6 minutes.

Since the OED etymology was for well before your biology, it looks very much like you are speaking with a forked tongue out of both sides of your mouth.

If you know anything about IQ tests you wouldn't ask that question without a lot of qualification.

Only a weak mind can be controlled.

At 11 years old? You really don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Wikipedia rules OK.

And your statement demonstrates that you do not understand anything about IQ and IQ testing.

Peter do you know about the parrots of San Francisco? They are pets who escaped and now have formed large viable flocks, IMO very cool even if the are an invasive specie,

Ah, didn't know SFO had a flock, can't escape the monster flocks in Pasadena.

To add to the list of "parrots" that have established breading colonies, there's one in London - a very bright & colourful, contribution to that city's bird population.

Clean up done. The flames and flame bait stop now. One more even faint flame and I deal out vacations. You can all have a nice and even heated conversation, but keep it civil, please.

I wonder what the law is on catching them for pets? You're not allowed to import them from the wild in their native countries anymore. Which has put the value of some of mine from £500 to £1700!

That depends...
If the bird was provably captive bred then it's OK to trap that particular bird.
Otherwise it is illegal to trap the bird as it is deemed to have bred in the wild, and under the Wildlife & Countryside Act it is an offence to capture (as a pet) a "wild bred" bird f any species.

I would imagine that it is very difficult to say that a particular smallish bird was captive/wild bred without having the bird in hand (are captive bred "parrots" chipped?) and having full access to ringing records (I assume given their value that some/all captive bred parrots are ringed as a means of identifying ownership. But also many wild bred birds are ringed to track their movements, so just seeing a ring is not a foolproof guide either way.
